Smokefree Stories

On the street, by phone and by email we're constantly getting stories from people, both patrons and workers, about how happy they are the new smokefree law in DC is finally in effect. So we've decided to create this blog so that those stories can be shared.

If you've enjoyed the benefits of going out in DC without the smoke, please click on the link below and tell us your story! Include at least your first name and neighborhood, please, (rather than anonymous).

Violations

The DC Council has decided that ALL workers in DC deserve clean, smokefree air in their workplace. If you'd like to report a violation, you can go to http://www.smokefreedc.org/violation, or less formally, post it here.

Kudos

The Smokefree DC Steering Committee is an all-volunteer group that put in many, many hours over the past 3 years. Along with dozens of volunteers, Smokefree DC distributed over 30,000 stickers at dozens of community events (pretty much, if we thought an elected official was going to be there, we showed up ahead of time, so that many people would be wearing "I'd Love A Smokefree DC" stickers while talking with the councilmembers. It was a great strategy, but a lot of work).

If you'd like to leave a comment to the steering committee and volunteers, here's the place to put it (since we don't get paid for doing this, we appreciate kind words!)
